Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson Officer Araz Alali said that a security guard, an adult male, was shot in the arm at about ۱۰:۵۰ a. m. and was conscious and breathing after the shooting. He was rushed to a local hospital and is in stable condition, according to MPD Police Chief Cathy Lanier.

Lanier told reporters that the suspect entered the building and was confronted by the security guard.

“He opened fire on the security guard, ” she said. “The security guard was struck, is right now receiving treatment and is in stable condition. The security guard and others wrestled the suspect down to the ground and he is in custody. ”

Alali said one suspect is in custody in connection with the shooting and the investigation is ongoing. There is no motive in the case yet, Alali said.

NBC۴ Washington is reporting the suspect is ۲۸ - year - old Floyd Corkins of Herndon, Va. Andrew Ames of the FBI Washington Field Office said the FBI is not confirming any reports about the suspect’s identity at this time.

The FBI also is investigating and an evidence response team is on the scene now, FBI public affairs specialist Rebecca Callahan told POLITICO. A suspect is in custody, she said, but it is too early to determine the person's motive.
