An allegedly drunk professor forced students to sit through a ۲۳ - hour oral exam at Kazan University in central Russia,Raw Storyreported.

The professor, who students said “stank of alcohol” would leave the room to drink, then return to harangue the class from ۱۰:۰۰ a. m. on June ۲۶ to ۹:۰۰ a. m. on June ۲۷, according to RIA Novosti, the Russian News and Information Agency.

The professor, Landysh Zaripova, reportedly began the exam in a normal way. End - of - semester exams in Russia are given orally and often do not follow a set timeline, but as the exam wore on, students said, Zaripova began to act more erratically.

RIA Novosti reports that alcohol abuse in Russia is a serious problem, with the average Russian consuming four gallons of pure alcohol per year. While annual deaths of acute alcohol poisoning in the U.S. average around 300, in the former Soviet Union, the numbers each year are in the tens of thousands.
