Scott to Romney: Fla. ready for Isaac

Scott said in an evening press conference that he updated Romney on the state's preparedness, and "gave him assurance that this state has dealt with hurricanes in the past.” He also announced that the storm's projected path had moved farther from Tampa, where the Republican National Convention kicks off on Monday.

“As you can see today, the track that’s out there, the main track has now gone a little further west, ” he said. “It was ۸۵ miles west of Tampa, now it’s ۱۵۰ miles west of Tampa. It’s still not a very well - developed storm. ”

But that could change, with meteorologists saying Isaac is likely to strengthen in the coming days.

“It’s way too early to have any conversation about whether[the GOP convention] should continue, ” Scott said. “Right now if you look at the projected path, it looks like we’ll have some rain and some wind, but the time to have a conversation about this is after it leaves Cuba. But right now, full speed ahead, we’re going to have a great convention. ”

Florida Emergency Management Director Bryan Koon said on Fox News Thursday afternoon that "the forecast has tracked a little bit west over the last day” and that he's "optimistic at this point that Tampa is going to come out of this with a little rain, a little wind and hopefully a very good convention.”
